Austin got it off today. He was a bit nervous. The lady that took the cast off was very patient and good with kids. She explained what was going to happen in great detail and even put the blade on her own arm, so he would believe that it wouldn't cut his skin. Once she broke the cast, she used the scissors to cut the cotton. The poor boy was more afraid of the scissors touching his arm than he was the saw. After the cast came off, he didn't know what to do with the arm. It was sore...he didn't want to move it or even turn it. I know with time he will get more comfortable with it. The doctor said the broken part of the bone was growing new bone around the break so he is not concerned with him breaking it again. He said that part of the broken part of the arm was strong, but he should wear the sling to make sure he keeps it safe and make sure nobody bumps inot it. At this point he is more concerned with Austin getting his movement back in that arm. He even said occasionally he has to put children in rehab, but he didn't feel that would be the case here. I am pretty sure that boy will be playing as usual within a few days, but he promised NO MONKEY BARS.
